Liverpool did well, but Manchester City did better

Liverpool finished the 2021/2022 Premier League in 2nd place. The Reds will have to play without Manchester City to be winners again. Manchester won again this season with 93 points. Liverpool remain tight on 92 points, with most scenarios being sent off by farmers on the final day of the game.

Lack of wins doesn’t mean Liverpool are bad, it’s just that Manchester is playing great. Liverpool scores 92 points in Premier League 2021/22. That score should be enough to be champions, but as long as Manchester is there it’s a different story.

The competition to win the Premier League in the last few seasons has been extraordinary. Manchester and Liverpool have had a tight duel over the last three seasons, but the points difference between them is very small. 92 points is not a bit.

In other seasons, this figure is enough to deliver Liverpool to the Premier League champions. Records show that 92 points is enough to earn the EPL in all seasons except the 2004/05, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.

In fact, in the 1990s, it was difficult for the Premier League champions to score 80 points, let alone 92 points. In comparison, Sir Alex Ferguson led Manchester United to their 13th championship. In the Fergie era, one season MU scored a maximum of 92 points, but only once (1993/1994).

That said, 92 points is enough for Liverpool to win the Premier League, and this season should be able to achieve a domestic treble. Unfortunately, Liverpool are not as lucky to be in the same era as Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have started to recover, just at the wrong time. Pep Manchester is playing at an incredible level. This season, they are champions leading Liverpool by one point, a similar scenario to the 2018/19 (9897) season.

Liverpool did not win the Premier League trophy, but they still have a chance to win another trophy. Liverpool will face Real Madrid in the 2021/2022 Champions League final.

The fierce duel between Liverpool and Real Madrid will take place on Sunday (29 May 2022) at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris. Liverpool are looking for a seventh trophy and Real Madrid are chasing a 14th Champions League trophy.

This provides an opportunity for Liverpool to win the treble winner or third title this season. Noted, they have to beat the strongest team in Europe, Real Madrid. Liverpool also have the opportunity to play against El Real when they lost in the 2018 final in Athens, Greece.
